Torrell Funderburk

Torrell Funderburk is an American computer scientist and entrepreneur. He is the Founder and CEO of Overspace, a cyber resilience company headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina.

He leads the development of ORION, the first vertically integrated cyber resilience platform rooted in network science, re-envisioning the decision substrate that underpins how organizations measure and improve their resilience. Overspace is the creator of Quantified Resilience as a category and the QR Score as its single market-facing output.

Before founding Overspace in late 2025, Torrell served as a two-time Global Chief Information Security Officer, most recently at Sealed Air (NYSE: SEE), a Fortune 500 company, and earlier at Maestro Health, an AXA subsidiary. His tenure spanned healthcare and financial services undergoing multiple M&A events and technology transformations for some of the world's most complex enterprises.

His career began in industrial automation software engineering, where he built systems for automated distribution centers and rose to global engineering manager before moving into cyber architecture and the CISO track. That arc, from the factory floor to the boardroom, informs the network-science foundation of his current work and the Ouroboros thesis behind it: that cyber risk has no working actuarial foundation yet, and only computational simulation can continuously generate the data to sustain one.

Beyond the company, Torrell serves on Furman University's AI Advisory Board, maintains a working relationship with the Complex Systems Institute at UNC Charlotte, and is deeply invested in his local community of the Carolinas through various civic services.

Torrell holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Presbyterian College and a Master of Science in Cybersecurity from the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC).
